STARLINGS AND SPARROWHAWK I

DESCRIPTION
STARLINGS AND SPARROW HAWK I
is a fine art print from the BIRDS collection.

Pictured are starlings (Sturnus vulgaris), photographed at their roost in Gelderland, Netherlands. Sparrowhawks (Accipiter nisus) were hunting near the starling roost, causing the starlings to dance, a synchronized choreography of thousands of birds. In this image, a sparrowhawk can be seen at the bottom of the group of starlings, almost absorbed into the group.

Because of the sound of a low murmur of all those bird wings and bird sounds this special kind of flock of birds is also known as murmuration.
