SNP NATUURREIZEN
Founded in 1984 by three passionate biologists as Stichting Natuurstudie Projecten, SNP Natuurreizen is now one of the largest providers of adventurous and active nature trips. Special tours, walking holidays, cycling holidays, family holidays, winter trips, and themed trips. The Costa Rica photography and nature trip is one such themed trip.
Nature has been central to SNP for over 40 years. As a travel organization, SNP aims to act in a nature-positive manner as much as possible and commit to nature conservation and restoration. In 2024—on the occasion of SNP’s 40th anniversary—SNP established the Giving Back to Nature Foundation to support local projects for the preservation and development of biodiversity. For each booking, €5 is automatically added to the travel price, after which SNP doubles the amount to €10 and transfers this to the foundation.

Trip with full-time professional photographer (for 30 years) and biologist Martin van Lokven, known from National Geographic Traveler and ANWB Reizen magazine. Awarded many times in international photography trips, such as European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Lowland Photo Contest, Asferico, and Oasis; at the latter, he was even the overall winner in 2011. Our local English-speaking guide is top-notch, with vast knowledge of the nature of Costa Rica and Latin America in general. Exceptionally likeable, he enthusiastically shares his knowledge with us.

ACCOMMODATIONS
We make no compromises regarding the accommodations. We stay at the best locations for the best photos. Sustainable accommodations amidst the rainforest, such as at the Selva Verde Lodge, where the surrounding rainforest is protected from logging and agriculture. With colorful wildlife in the immediate vicinity of the lodges, in the surrounding rainforest. Such as strawberry frogs, quetzals, toucans, coatis, macaws, and hummingbirds. In 2024, we even had a relatively rare species like the red-headed manakin every day in front of our lodge’s restaurant. Three of the lodges are downright luxurious and are among the best in Costa Rica.
